This second edition of the BJMO in 2025 once again covers a wide range of topics across the field of oncology.
In the review section, Eva Donck et al. provide an overview of the accuracy of PSMA PET/CT for assessing intraprostatic lesions in patients with prostate cancer. The authors highlight the promising potential of using the PSMA PET scoring system as a diagnostic tool for these patients. A second review provided by Dr. Sofie Theys et al. discuss the development of a supportive tool for professionals to adequately refer patients to reliable and accessible support care services in Belgium.
In the practice guidelines section, Dr. Willem Lybaert et al. highlight the vaccine recommendations for patients with solid tumours in Belgium.
Next, in the healthcare section, Prof. Christophe Matthys et al. outline the requirement for a personalised approach to nutrition therapy for paediatric oncology patients who are malnourished given that malnourishment is now viewed as a modifiable prognostic factor.
Two oncocases are also included. One discusses a case of bilateral tonsillar metastasis from colorectal adenocarcinoma, underscoring the importance of accurate histopathological assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, and pharmacogenetic testing in optimising patient outcomes. The other case provides insight into CDK4/6 inhibitor-induced digoxin intoxication, highlighting the importance of monitoring dixogin levels and QT intervals when initiating CDK4/6 inhibitors.
Lastly in this issue, a congress highlights article from Dr. Willem Lybaert et al. provides an in depth discussion of two practice-changing trials in neuroendocrine tumours presented at the ESMO conference.
We wish you a pleasant read!
