Due to the success of last year, a second national Belgian multidisciplinary scientific meeting on urological cancers was held with the cooperation of medical oncologists (BSMO), urologists (BAU) and radiation oncologists (ABRO/BVRO). It was a great opportunity to build bridges between these three important specialisations involved in the treatment of urological cancers.
The steering committee of the meeting consisted of J. P. Machiels, G. Pelgrims, S. Rottey (members of BSMO); L. Hoekx, S. Joniau, T. Roumeguere (members of BAU); O. De Hertogh, G. De Meerleer and Y. Neybuch (members of ABRO/BVRO). The second meeting, held in Brussels on March 28th, 2015 was a great success with more than 100 attendees of the different specialisations involved.

The 5th International Congress of Breast Disease Centres was held in Antwerp, February 5–7, 2015, following previous versions in Paris. The focus was on multidisciplinary care, quality management, and economic issues. Over fifty key opinion leaders from all over the world (fifteen countries, four continents) discussed different aspects of multidisciplinary breast care. Among the participants were the presidents of professional societies such as EUSOMA, ECCO, ESTRO, NAPBC USA, and the general director of SIS. The next congress will be held in Paris, February 4–6, 2016.

In October 2014, the 14th conference of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology was held in Lisbon, Portugal, celebrating the International Society of Geriatric Oncology’s mission by bringing together multidisciplinary experts in both oncology and geriatric medicine. More than 350 healthcare workers from all over the world participated, not only physicians but also a growing number of nurses and allied healthcare workers with a special interest in the care for older persons with cancer.

From 9–13th of December, San Antonio, TX was again transformed into the world’s capital in the fight against breast cancer. The 2014 CTRC-AACR San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium was a joint presentation of the Cancer Therapy & Research Centre at the University of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio, the American Association for Cancer Research, and Baylor College of Medicine. This years’ meeting drew more than 6,000 participants from all over the globe and again proved to be the number one breast cancer meeting in the world. This report will highlight eight key studies presented during the meeting.

From the 26th till the 30th of September, Madrid was host for the 39th annual congress of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). The theme of this years’ meeting, that was hosted at the IFEMA – Feria de Madrid, was ‘Precision Medicine in Cancer Care. This report will highlight 10 key studies concerning genitourinary cancers presented during the meeting.

Notwithstanding the fact that no breaking, practice-changing studies were presented in the sessions devoted to gynaecological cancers at this years’ annual ESMO meeting, the strong trend towards targeted therapies was confirmed, in accordance with the general theme of “precision medicine” at this meeting.
