The treatment landscape for patients with both resectable and non-resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is undergoing a transformative shift due to the promising results arising from several clinical trials. The treatment landscape of the resectable setting is certainly more dynamic than that of the non-resectable setting where durvalumab is the only available immunotherapy option. Here, an overview of the treatment strategies for both resectable and non-resectable NSCLC will be discussed.

The annual World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) once again brought together the latest information for the field of lung cancer in September 2024. Research into non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was of special interest at this meeting, with various treatment regimens having being trialled. Here, some of the highlights of NSCLC from this meeting are summarised.

At the BMSO Annual Meeting 2024, Dr. Peter Vuylsteke (Medical Oncologist and Head of Department Internal Medicine at the University of Botswana) discussed the treatment disparities in oncological care and provided some suggestions on how to bridge this gap.1 Dr. Vuylsteke began by highlighting that not only is there a disparity in care between low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) and high-income countries (HIC), but disparities also arise due to the outbreak of war and epidemics such as COVID-19. Finally, regional differences in the quality of care exist.
